Description

The sodium spectrum is a set of wavelengths of light emitted or absorbed by sodium atoms. When sodium atoms are excited, their electrons transition between energy levels, releasing or absorbing energy in the form of light. This light has specific wavelengths, which form the sodium spectrum.  

Key Features of the Sodium Spectrum:

• Distinct Lines: The sodium spectrum is characterized by several distinct lines, particularly in the visible and near-infrared regions.  
• Prominent Lines: Two prominent lines in the sodium spectrum are located at approximately 589.0 nm and 589.6 nm. These lines are often referred to as the “sodium D-lines” and are responsible for the characteristic yellow color of sodium light.
