An AED is a portable electronic device that analyzes the heart rhythm of a person experiencing sudden cardiac arrest and delivers an electric shock if needed to restore a normal heartbeat.

  • CPR Guidance: Even if a shock isn’t needed, the AED will continue to provide instructions for performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
